COACH ADAM WALKER

What made you get into martial arts?
I started training at High Altitude Martial Arts because my good friend Elias Rodriguez always was trying to wrestle me in HS and I’ve always said no, but one day in my college dorm room my roommates and I were playing around with a catching mit to see who can hit the hardest and that led me to pursuing this as a new passion.

Tell us about your journey/background/accomplishments?
I started off playing football in middle school which transitioned to HS. I believe it’s what gave me a drive to not only be a good athlete, but also a humble individual. I worked my way up on the teams to becoming captain and eventually continuing my educational future at CSUP.

What is your goal as a coach?
My goal as a coach is to help students learn the fundamentals of BJJ so that they may feel safe, defend themselves properly, and learn life lessons that translates into the challenges that they may face in the future.

What makes High Altitude Martial Arts special?
I believe what makes High Altitude Martial Arts a special place is not only the amazing techniques that’s taught through various coaching styles, but the bonds/connections built as well. I found and met many friends who I now consider family and who helps picks my head up when it falls down. High Altitude Martial Arts builds structural ground to help individuals of all sorts of background find purpose in their lives whether it’s through competition or even genuine talks between the people in the space.
