COACH SHAE SMITH
What made you get into martial arts?
I got into martial arts to be more effective in daily life. From strength and flexibility, to weight loss and health, I wanted to test myself physically and mentally through the stresses train provides. I also wanted my daughter to have the confidence, skill and drive to push herself through any obstacles in life.
Tell us about your journey/background/accomplishments?
My journey through martial arts started with wrestling in high school and now BJJ. BJJ has allowed me to loss 50LBS and push myself hared than I thought I could. I’ve been able to make good friends, training partners, and coaches, who all come together and improve our skills.
What is your goal as a coach?
My goal as a coach is make martial arts approachable, easy and fun for everyone in class. From the newest students to the more advanced, I hope to improve moral and keep class fun and engaging for all students.
What makes High Altitude Martial Arts special?
HAMA is a special place because of the community. The students, staff, and coaches can all come together and support each other. I have so many new friends and training partners. Coaching and training is usually the best part of the day.
