COACH DAVID ENRIQUEZ

What made you get into martial arts?
What got me into martial arts was a deep desire to overcome myself to prove to myself that I can conquer challenges that, for many, may seem impossible. Over time, I’ve also realized the importance of bringing hope to people who need it, especially those going through dark times. Through self-development and perseverance, I believe anyone can achieve anything.

Tell us about your journey/background/accomplishments?
I come from a third-world country where culturally, many things seem unreachable or unrealistic. We are hardworking and tough, but I’ve come to understand that in both sports and life, it’s not just about working hard it’s about working smart. I’ve competed and will continue to compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, boxing, & MMA. One of my biggest accomplishments has been helping others get closer to God and guiding them toward a healthier lifestyle through better habits and a mindset shift.

What is your goal as a coach?
My goal as a coach is to help students improve their technique and understanding of key concepts, but also to instill self-confidence, hope, and good character. I want them to carry those values not just on the mats but into their lives outside of the gym.

What makes High Altitude Martial Arts special?
HAMA is just special. You can feel it in the air. If you don’t believe me, come try it for yourself. Like anywhere, there will be things you like and things you don’t but if you keep showing up, you’ll grow to love it. You’ll feel part of a strong, healthy community of like-minded people. I’m truly blessed to be here.
