No Bare Feet Off The Mats

We train barefoot, in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing Striking classes at High Altitude Martial Arts. It’s time to invest in a pair of flip flops that you will only wear in the gym.

Wear your flip flops to the edge of the mat and remove them before stepping on. There will be a sea of flip flops lining the mat. Use your gym flip flops anytime you step off the mat including going to the changing room, getting a drink of water, and especially going to the bathroom.

Cleanliness and hygiene are extremely important. We don’t want to track the funk of the outside world and the bathrooms on the mats where we train. This will be a change for those of you who have been training at the gym awhile (we previously provided flip flops in front of the bathrooms) but now we are asking everyone to invest in their own (Old Navy has some for $2!).

Remember, don’t walk barefoot anywhere in the gym, besides the mat.
